Noah Garabedian

Bassist, composer and educator Noah Garabedian grew up in Berkeley, California, earned a BA in ethnomusicology from UCLA and a master’s in music performance from NYU, and has long been a mainstay of the New York jazz scene.

He has performed and toured with Ravi Coltrane, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Kris Davis, Andy Milne and Edu Ribeiro, and is a member of the collective trio Ember. As a leader he has released Consider the Stars Beneath Us and, most recently, Quartets and Solos (Contagious Music, 2025). He received a 2025 New Jazz Works grant from Chamber Music America, and his honors include two Fulbright Specialist grants, a Calouste Gulbenkian In View grant, a Creative Armenia fellowship and a John Coltrane National Scholarship.

Garabedian has taught across Asia, the Middle East and South America as a U.S. State Department Arts Envoy and Fulbright Specialist, and teaches at The New School and the Stanford Jazz Workshop. With guitarist Vinicius Gomes and drummer Elé Howell he is one third of VEN Trio, a collaborative group built on spontaneity, groove and a shared love of African diaspora music.
